After brief spat, Pistons' Charlie Villanueva seeks answers from coach John Kuester

Charlie Villanueva said there's no lingering feelings between he and Pistons coach John Kuester, although he had a simple request.

"I want to be coached," Villanueva said from his locker at Quicken Loans Arena. "Tell me what I did wrong so I can get better."

One game after being pulled early in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's loss to Miami, Villanueva didn't play Friday against the Cavaliers. After being pulled, Villanueva barked at Kuester, pointing at him.

"Exact words, and I quote '(I) don't know what I'm going to do with the rotation. (You) might play a lot, might play a little,'" Villanueva said. "But I already knew what that meant."

At that point, even though shootaround went normally, Villanueva knew he would not leave the bench. Kuester said it wasn't punishment from Wednesday's incident and Villanueva thought whatever happened was behind both of them.

"I thought I was," Villanueva said. "I guess I'm grounded (laughs). We'll see what happens. I'm going to be ready, like he says."

Villanueva said it was a "heat of the moment" situation.

"It's the fourth quarter, I was in and two-and-a-half minutes later (out), it'll make anybody react like that," he said.

Miami went to a smaller lineup to start the fourth quarter, which sparked a game-changing 15-0 run. Kuester said in recent days it was a matchup issue, nothing more. Apparently, the explanation hadn't made its way to Villanueva.

"I don't know why, to this day I don't," Villanueva said. "You'll have to talk to him, I don't know."
