Alexander to play in Russia

Joe Alexander is headed overseas to resume his professional basketball career.

The Linganore High School graduate has signed with Russia's BC Krasnye Krylaya (Red Wings) of the Russian League, according to a Twitter posting by @TheHoopsMarket.

Alexander, 24, addressed his future with the News-Post earlier this month at his basketball camp at Linganore.

"The lockout has the potential to erase the whole season," Alexander said. "So you think, if you don't consider going overseas, then you're essentially leaving yourself open having a year not playing, not working, not making money -- losing a year of your career. So, you have to consider going overseas."
