Andre Miller says he will leave contract status up to his agent

Andre Miller says he will rely on his agent, Andy Miller, to handle his contract status, which remains up in the air. The Blazers have until June 30 to exercise a $7.8 million option to retain Miller for next season.

"I just let (Andy Miller) deal with it," Miller said Friday as the Blazers cleared out their lockers at the team's practice facility in Tualatin. "As long as I'm healthy, I'm going to be playing basketball, that's how I see it. I'm past proving myself to make some money. I consider myself a leader on the court and lead by example and habits, you know, that's the best I can do."

Miller, 35, averaged 12.7 points, a team-leading 7.0 assists and 1.41 steals while playing 81 games this season. His only missed game was for serving a one-game suspension for barreling into Los Angeles Clippers rookie Blake Griffin in December.

In the playoffs, Miller averaged 14.8 points and 5.5 assists in 32 minutes. It was Miller's seventh career postseason appearance during his 12-year NBA career, and he still hasn't advanced past the first round.

What do the Blazers need to get to the second round?

"We need some healthy guys. We need everybody to be healthy," Miller said. "We have what it takes. We just need everybody to be healthy for six months. Six months out of the year. But ever since I've been here, it's been all about injured guys. It would be nice to have everyone clicking and healthy at the same time."
