Blazers' Matthews says he wanted to stay with Jazz

Portland Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews said that he preferred to stay with the Jazz and that Utah was his first choice last summer, prior to him signing with Portland as a restricted free agent.
Matthews stressed that he has moved past the signing and is enjoying his run with the Blazers. However, he conceded that he did not want to leave Salt Lake City and initially was not looking forward to a change of scenery during the early part of his career.
Matthews said that the Jazz had a chance to make him an offer but never followed through. Once Utah did not step up, Matthews made a business decision.
"I like what I had here," said Matthews, following a morning shootaround at EnergySolutions Arena. "I was comfortable."
