Bucks have good problem at small forward

Scott Skiles has an interesting dilemma at the small forward position as the Milwaukee Bucks prepare to open the season Wednesday night in New Orleans.

The Bucks coach has two capable starting candidates in returning starter Carlos Delfino and newcomer Corey Maggette.

Skiles said Sunday he has chosen a starter but did not want to reveal it yet.

Based on the extended minutes Delfino has played during the exhibition season, it seems likely he will be in the starting lineup against the Hornets.

The 6-foot-6 Maggette made his Bucks debut on Friday night against Minnesota and was impressive, scoring 17 points in 14 minutes, with all 17 coming at the free-throw line.

Delfino played 41 minutes in the Bucks' 119-118 overtime loss to the Timberwolves and finished with a team-high 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

"It's two totally different guys," Skiles said. "Carlos is more of a three-point shooter, and Corey is more of a slasher.

"Both guys are big, strong guys with the ability to rebound the ball. They're nice complements to each other, and we also play different lineups where Carlos may be at the 2 (shooting guard)."
