Butler on Bulls' radar awaiting waiver clearance
With coach Tom Thibodeau calling off practice Tuesday, the Chicago Bulls didn't have to entertain more questions about who they'd add to reach the NBA roster minimum of 13.
Veteran swingman Rasual Butler is expected to clear waivers Wednesday, and many around the league believe he'll join the Bulls. Reports also indicate that Butler, bought out by the Clippers, will garner interest from the Celtics, Hawks, Thunder and Knicks.
His agent, Andy Miller, emailed USA Today on Monday to say: "We are in the process of evaluating our options. I fully anticipate us signing with a high profile playoff team, with championship aspirations by no later than Thursday."
Butler played extensively for Vinny Del Negro's Clippers until late December. Since Dec. 26, he has logged 15 or minutes just four times, hitting 3 of 11 tries from the 3-point line.
Butler was in the last year of a contract paying him $2.4 million. Cap space is not an issue for the Bulls, who have roughly $2.9 million.
