Calderon not worried about an NBA lockout, yet

Jose Calderon believes it’s far too premature to make plans for a lockout at this point. He said as much in a recent interview with Spanish media back home. Asked if he would consider playing in Europe in the event of a lockout, Calderon said Europe would be an option but a lockout was still a long ways off and he wasn’t prepared one way or the other to say what he would do.

Asked in the same interview if he would like to return to Europe to play, Calderon responded that: “No, I am really happy in the NBA. I don’t want to go back. I still have two more years on my contract with the NBA.”

Somehow Calderon’s second response was presented as the answer to his potential plans in the event of a lockout and now his countryman believe Calderon has no intention of playing in Europe if the NBA shuts down.

Calderon reiterated Saturday he has not made any decision yet, but to say he definitely would not be playing in Europe if an NBA lockout occurred is incorrect.

“We don’t know if there is going to be a lockout so you have to keep your mind open,” Calderon said. “Europe could be a possibility but you never know.”
