Carter to debut, Iggy doubtful, etc.

Suns guard Vince Carter, 13 days after being acquired, is making his Suns debut tonight.

"He's a go as of of right now, unless something happens in five to six hours," Suns coach Alvin Gentry said.

Gentry said he has not decided whether Carter will start but wants to give him a good load of minutes if he can handle them. Carter had his first full-court scrimmaging Tuesday and said he did get winded. At the same time, he feels better than he has in a month after the therapy from the athletic training staff and rest.

"I can go," Carter said. "I can say that. I don't like to put a time limit on it. Regardless if I've been training in the mountains for a month getting ready for this, the first two minutes is always the toughest and roughest -- the excitement, the energy, getting out on the court with a new team. My first practice was the same way. I was just trying to get rolling and I thought I was going to die out there. I was sitting on the side and these guys are fine. I was like, 'You guys aren't worn out?' Once I got through that segment, I was fine."

Carter said the calls are the most difficult part to learn because the plays and concepts are familiar to a veteran. He is the newcomer asking the most questions, even if it's just on behalf of Gortat and Pietrus.
