Cavs rebuilding looking to flip Baron Davis

Presti's philosophy is clear — ignore free agency, build through the draft and stay flexible under the salary cap.

Cavs GM Chris Grant believes the same thing, which is why he was so elated to nab a second lottery pick in this summer's draft.

Despite their atrocious record, the Cavs are slowly following suit. They will be in excellent shape once this season ends, thanks to their own $14.5 million trade exception (the league's largest) that they'll take into the draft.

The Cavs will begin next season (provided a lockout doesn't wash out the whole thing) with Antawn Jamison's $15 million expiring contract. They privately believe if Baron Davis comes to camp next season motivated and healthy, they can trade him again for more assets.
