Cavs sign D-League star Alonzo Gee

The Cleveland Cavaliers signed guard/forward Alonzo Gee to a minimum contract on Tuesday.
Gee, 23, is expected to earn a prorated portion of the veteran’s minimum of $762,195. He’s appeared in five games with San Antonio and 11 games with Washington this season. He’s averaged 2.1 points and 1.6 rebounds.
He will wear No. 33 for the Cavs.
The 6-foot-6, 219-pound guard/forward was named the 2010 D-League Rookie of the Year and to the NBA D-League second team after averaging 21 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.5 steals last season. He shot 51 percent from the field and 39 percent from 3-point range during the 2009-10 regular season with the Austin Toros.
