CDR vows not to sulk over benching
Bucks guard Chris Douglas-Roberts has not played a minute in the last eight games after falling out of coach Scott Skiles' rotation.
And the last time he played any significant time in a game was Feb. 2 at Phoenix when he played 27 minutes and scored nine points (2-of-12 shooting) in the Bucks' 92-77 defeat.
Douglas-Roberts did not even play on Tuesday when the Bucks were down to 10 available players against Detroit. Instead Skiles went with a nine-man rotation and Keyon Dooling got backup minutes at the shooting guard position.
On Thursday, Douglas-Roberts was the last player on the practice floor at the Cousins Center as he worked out with coach Bill Peterson. The Bucks conclude a four-game home stand this weekend as they face the Suns Friday night and the Boston Celtics in an ESPN-televised game at 8 p.m. Sunday.
"Whatever my situation is, whatever my circumstances are, they won't change who I am," Douglas-Roberts said. "They won't change my work ethic and how I act toward my teammates, how I act toward my family.
"I'm going to continue to be a professional no matter what's going on. This situation right here won't stop me at all."
I still believe in myself and my ability," Douglas-Roberts said. "I'm going to continue to work hard until I can't do this anymore.
"It's a numbers game. You have guys that have to get going. As a young player and when you make (in salary) what I make, you're not going to have the opportunity to have a couple bad games. You're just not.
"I know that and understand that so that's why I'm going to continue to be positive. This is only my third year (in the NBA). I refuse to let anything break me."
