Coach fears Stephen Curry could be out for a while
Warriors coach Keith Smart on Friday made it sound as if Stephen Curry could miss considerable time with his sprained right ankle, but the point guard was a little more optimistic.
"He's going to be out for a little bit," Smart said. "You've got to be a little bit concerned, because now he's rolling it without stepping on someone. It's fatiguing a little bit. ... It's kind of shutting down."
Curry sprained his ankle in Wednesday's game at San Antonio, marking the fourth time he's seriously rolled the ankle in less than two months. He was moving around the locker room in socks relatively well Friday, and he said it already feels as though the most recent sprain was three or four days ago.
"If it was at a point where I was limping around and I knew I couldn't play, it would be an easy decision, but my body heals pretty fast," Curry said. "I've just got to make sure the strength is back, and that's the thing that you can't really measure.
"I can do all of the tests that I want to, but there's no telling if it will feel the same after three games in four days."
Curry said the Warriors' medical staff will re-evaluate his ankle in a couple of days, after the soreness and swelling fade. That timeline makes a return for Monday's game at Utah a long shot. The Warriors host Minnesota on Tuesday.

Power forward Brandan Wright missed his 13th consecutive game with a strained lower back. He said he'll discuss it with reporters when he's able to return to the court. The Warriors have given no timetable for his return.
