Dallas' title makes Stoudemire wonder if the Suns would have won it with him in Phoenix

What if Stoudemire had remained with the Suns, either through taking a lesser contract offer with Phoenix or by the Suns increasing their offer to avoid his departure to New York.

Stoudemire was making a full day of marketing appearances Wednesday for Excedrin when he stopped in Manhattan and was asked what he thought about the Dallas Mavericks' championship. The answer might have a Suns fan looking or an Excedrin.

"I figure all the teams that we battled with in Phoenix all went on to win a championship except for us," Stoudemire told reporters. "I figure if we stayed together one more year, we might have had it. We played Dallas every year, the Spurs every year in the playoffs, the Lakers every year in the playoffs. Each of those teams has won a championship. But we're on the East Coast now in New York so it's our turn."

Stoudemire was also asked if he was happy for his former Suns teammate, Shawn Marion, getting his first Finals trip and title in a 12-year career.

"I am," Stoudemire said. "I played with Shawn for five years. His family is my family. I'm definitely happy for him."
