Dueling Priorities as the Knicks Rebuild

As the Knicks slogged through another too-little, too-late rally Saturday night, the franchise’s confused priorities were on full display.
Nate Robinson and Al Harrington, two impending free agents who have no chance of re-signing with the Knicks, led the near comeback in Cleveland. Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler, two prized building blocks, spent the fourth quarter on the bench. The Knicks lost again, their playoff hopes flickering.

The Knicks’ present is gloomy, their future uncertain, and their short- and long-term goals in clear conflict. Call it an unfortunate but necessary side effect of rebuilding.
