As expected... Grizzlies waive Acie Law

They had just 13 players because Acie Law didn't make the trip after he was waived following the Grizzlies' practice in Memphis this afternoon. The Griz worked out at 11 a.m., and then boarded a plane at 2 p.m. to start a four-game road trip that goes through Denver, Utah, Phoenix and Los Angeles for a game with the Clippers.

Law, a free agent acquisition this summer, signed a non-guaranteed deal that allowed the Griz to waive him Dec. 8 without any future obligations. Normally, teams must guarantee contracts in January. But Law apparently insisted on the early date, and reportedly walked away with $500,000.
