Favors vs Cousins two very different personalities

Derrick Favors was drafted by the Nets, in part, because of his wholesome, unassuming personality. Unlike the other frontcourt player they considered drafting, DeMarcus Cousins, Favors isn’t the type to be disciplined by the league or thrown out of practice (Cousins already experienced both).

But is that personality a hindrance? Dispassionate would be an accurate description for Favors on and off the court, and it has coincided with a lack of aggression, as we documented.

Johnson believes he can coax the killer instinct out of the 19-year-old.

“It can (be developed). But that seed has to be in you,” Johnson said. “We believe that seed has been planted.”
