Gerald Wallace not a good fit for Golden State

You said from Day 1 that you will be bold, will make big moves. That’s a fair way to judge you, on your own words.

-LACOB: And I hold by those comments completely. I absolutely said all that. But what I didn’t say is I would do it at this trade deadline, necessarily.

I said we’d be prepared to make a bold move, an aggressive move when it presents itself. The Celtics came in with the same mentality. Took them four years before they were able to make that move transpire, that was the Garnett deal.

They had to acquire assets over four years. I’m not sitting here saying it’s going to take four years. Can’t put a finger on this summer or next trade deadline or when it’s going to happen.

We’re going to do it as soon as we can do it. I’m impatient, but I can’t be foolish and give away the show at the wrong time.

I do have the experience of watching the Celtics go through this. Believe me we were the same way, exact same situation, only worse. We had a team that lost 18 in a row at one point there. Took four years to pull it off and then transform the team.

Unlike the previous regime, we’re prepared to spend money. Unlike the previous regime, we’re willing to make big moves.

But we’re not going to make bad moves just for the sake of moves. Going to have to do this in a logical way. People have to trust we’re talking to every team in the league and we’ll do it when we can do it.

-Q: You’re comfortable watching almost every team ahead of you in the West do something at the deadline… and you do almost nothing?

-LACOB: I’ll tell you exactly… I’m thinking Utah got worse. Don’t think you would argue too much.

Denver: hard to say whether they got worse or better. I think both teams won in that trade. But a lot of those guys’ contracts run out. I’d say they have a deep roster, but don’t have a superstar.

Portland? It depends whether you’re a fan of Gerald Wallace. We could’ve gotten Gerald Wallace–he’s not somebody we thought would make us better. I really believe that. He just doesn’t fit for us. He’s good defensive player, rebounder, certain things that do fit, certain things that don’t.

I could argue, don’t know whether Portland got better or worse.

Did Phoenix get better? I like Dragic. I’m not sure they got better. I might argue the other way.
