Glimpse of Old School Marc Gasol

One of the stars for this team, as they've made their post season push, has been Grizzlies center Marc Gasol.

He was born in Spain, but  calls Memphis his home in America. The 7-1' rebounding machine played his high school basketball career in Memphis at Lausanne.

In 2003, Marc Gasol was just a teenager but already at seven feet tall, he stood out on the basketball court. The man you see on the floor today, looks much different than the high school student eight years ago.

Center Marc Gasol didn't expect to hear that we got our hands on an old VHS tape of Lausanne versus MUS in 2003.

"(Reporter) We've got some old video of you playing basketball. (Gasol) Keep it to yourself, don't show anybody. (Reporter) We might put it on the news tonight. (Gasol) No you don't have to ."

Gasol attended Lausanne from 2001 until 2003, when his brother Pau played for the Grizzlies. He was noticeably bigger, seemed a little slower, but definitely stood out. He said back then, he never dreamed he'd be where he is now.

"I think I was just thinking, what an 18-year old kid wants to do, just have fun."

One of Gasol's former opponents from MUS said he never would have guessed his friend would end up in the NBA.

"Our senior year when they beat us pretty badly, our coach said to us, you all just played against an NBA center, we all looked at him like he was crazy," said friend Ryan Baum. "He's definitely dropped 30-40 pounds since then. He's a completely different player."

Gasol said to be playing for the Grizzlies in the playoffs is more than he ever dreamed.

"I grew up here, I grew up in Memphis. I have a lot of friends here," said Gasol. "My family has been related to this team since day one, trust me, I feel very special, very proud to be here."
