Grizzlies weighing ex-Cavalier Leon Powe

Cleveland reached a buyout agreement with Powe and he'll clear waivers Tuesday. There will be competition for the 6-8 reserve because his former team, Boston, and New York have expressed interest.

Powe's agent, Aaron Goodwin, confirmed Memphis is one of the teams his client would seriously consider. If the Griz are successful in luring Powe, then Rodney Carney would depart after his 10-day contract ends Wednesday.

The Griz are interested in Powe for two reasons. The organization has stated it will do whatever it takes to improve its playoff chances. Plus, Griz general manager Chris Wallace (a former Boston executive) seems most comfortable with adding former Celtics to achieve that goal.
