Jeter's Role Still developing
Pooh Jeter has studied film of the Kings' offense at its best with Tyreke Evans and Beno Udrih starting at guard.
That duo proved to be more than competent last season. Evans was Rookie of the Year and Udrih enjoyed arguably the best season of his career.
Udrih will miss his third exhibition game – tonight against Golden State – with a sprained right shoulder. With Udrih out, Evans has worked with the likes of Jeter, Francisco García and Luther Head in the backcourt.
"I have to present something a little different than what they present," Jeter said. "I've got to get more to the hole, get in the paint and make things happen. I've got to create more and get in the paint and hit that jumper, which we all can do."
The makeup of the backcourt continues to be in flux. The only thing certain is Evans and Udrih will be the starters. García is seen as a reliable backup guard.
But adding new guards to the mix has not gone smoothly.
"I thought Luther had an effective game against Golden State (on Sunday) but we're still in the process of evaluating what that backcourt should look like," coach Paul Westphal said.
