Knicks looking to fill a hole in the middle and add to their bench

There isn’t a starting center on the roster after trading Timofey Mozgov. The plan is to bring 6-foot-11 Jerome Jordan, who impressed in Serbia after being a second-round pick in 2010, to training camp. They will be looking for a rugged center with the 17th pick, but if none they like falls to them, they could take a point guard. Walsh wants to add a handful of big bodies. They love a handful of free-agent centers such as Tyson Chandler, Marc Gasol and DeAndre Jordan, but they likely don’t have the flexibility to get them if they keep Chauncey Billups. They will have done well if they attract the Kings’ Samuel Dalembert, if there’s a mid-level exception.

D’Antoni started Shawne Williams and Billy Walker in the second half of the closeout game and Roger Mason Jr. and Anthony Carter played the whole fourth quarter. It is uncertain if any of them would make the rotations of the other playoff teams, except perhaps Williams, who is a free agent. The Knicks need to add a couple of solid, cheap subs, with Chicago’s Kurt Thomas a possibility.
