Magic's Quentin Richardson is making progress in his return from surgery

Orlando Magic wing Quentin Richardson is close to returning to the practice court as he recovers from surgery in June to repair a disk in his lower back.

Richardson has been doing his physical therapy work at RDV Sportsplex and at home since the NBA lockout went into effect on July 1.

"It's inconvenient because especially after having surgery you need access to your trainers and all the amenities of your arena and practice facilities to get you back at full strength with whatever your injury may be," he said when asked how the lockout has affected his rehab. "But we all are making adjustments and figuring it out during this lockout.

"Not being able to work with our training and strength staff has not slowed my rehab, though. Our staff did a great job getting me situated with my physical therapist before the lockout began. So I got all those things set up for me while we were still able to be in contact with them."
