About ten minutes after leaving, a man returned to his north Spokane home to find a stranger burglarizing his garage. When the homeowner pulled into his garage, the stranger, later identified as Harold A. Willey, got in his truck and drove away.
The homeowner was able to follow Willey, call 911, and provide police with a description of the man and his vehicle. A police officer was in the vicinity, and attempted to stop Willey, however the man was able to elude the police officer. Deputies laid out spike strips in an effort to disable Willey’s truck, however he was able to avoid running over the strips.
Sgt. McNall was able to stop Willey using a Pursuit Intervention Technique, and he was taken into custody. Willey was booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of attempting to elude police, resisting arrest, second-degree burglary, second-degree driving on a suspended license, a felony one warrant for possession of a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor one warrant for violation of a protection order.
