Memphis Grizzlies: Five things to watch

Lionel Hollins had no illusions when he took over the Grizzlies during the winter of 2009. One of the youngest teams in the NBA at the time, the Griz required chemistry, tough love and patience to nurture player development.

The recipe for success hasn't necessarily changed, but expectations for what the Griz can cook up sure have going into Hollins' second full season as coach (his first of a three-year contract extension).

Training camp for the 2010-11 season starts Tuesday and the goal couldn't be spelled out any simpler.

The team has made significant strides in Hollins' tenure as head coach and building on last season's 16-game improvement means playoffs, according to team owner Michael Heisley.

Satisfying Heisley's postseason guarantee likely will dominate the discussion today when players and coaches convene for the Grizzlies' annual media day.

Of the 14 players under contract, 10 were on the roster a year ago. That means the team's nucleus -- specifically its starting five --- remains intact with the question of how changing a few rotation spots and internal development will affect the season.
