Thu, 06/23/2011 - 1:19pm
In a housekeeping move, the Heat extended a qualifying offer to guard Mario Chalmers, thus ensuring that he will be a restricted free agent and giving the Heat the right to match any offer for him.
The Heat can exceed the salary cap to re-sign Chalmers.
Chalmers averaged 6.4 points and 2.5 assists during the regular season.
He played well in the NBA Finals, averaging 11.8 points and 3.5 assists and shooting 40 percent (14 for 35) on three-pointers against the Dallas Mavericks.
