Miami Heat waives Kenny Hasbrouck, Shavlik Randolph

The Miami Heat waived guard Kenny Hasbrouck and forward Shavlik Randolph on Wednesday morning.

The roster is down to 16, meaning one more player must be cut before opening day (next Tuesday). There are currently five guards: Dwyane Wade, Carlos Arroyo, Patrick Beverley, Eddie House and Mario Chalmers.

Hasbrouck played in five preseason games, averaging 4.6 points and three assists. Randolph appeared in three preseason games.

The final person to be cut likely will either be Beverley, center Jamaal Magloire or injured forward De'Sean Butler. Beverley is a defensive specialist. Magloire is a veteran center who could provide depth at a key position, and Butler is the Heat's 2010 second-round draft pick.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Wednesday he has options but that injuries to perimeter players could play a role in the decision.

``That's probably where we need a player the most that can contribute in practice [and] also offer some insurance in case somebody does get injured,'' Spoelstra said. ``Right now our injuries are primarily with our perimeter players.''
