Nash will not be heading to New York or Minnesota on Draft Day

Two trade scenarios were reported in connection with Nash, one involving the Timberwolves and the other involving the Knicks. The Minnesota scenario was never close to becoming a reality. The Suns are interested in finding a way to get the No. 2 pick in order to draft Arizona forward Derrick Williams, but including Nash in such a deal doesn’t make sense for either side.

The Knicks could be a different story. New York would like to reunite coach Mike D’Antoni with the player who helped forge his coaching reputation in the first place, and Nash lives in New York in the offseason. There is some logic to that, though it’s uncertain what the Knicks could offer the Suns in return.

But again, if anything happens with the Knicks or a contender, it won’t be on draft day. The most likely scenario with Nash, a source said, is that he starts the season with Phoenix and, should the Suns struggle, seeks a deal to a contending team at next year’s trade deadline.
