Nets' Anthony Morrow will miss three road games with hamstring strain

Shooting guard Anthony Morrow will not make the trip with the team to Oklahoma City, Chicago and Minneapolis. Morrow has not played since straining his hamstring just prior to tipoff of the Dec. 14 game against Philadelphia. His timetable was originally given as 2-3 weeks, and coach Avery Johnson said it could end up being longer than that.

“Right now, with his situation, with an injury, he’s not going on this trip, that’s another week – he’s not even ready to practice,’’ Johnson said before Monday night’s game against the Magic. “He’s been doing a little elliptical, but … it’s a hamstring. And the degree of which he injured his hamstring, you just don’t bounce back after two weeks.’’

Johnson said all along he had thought the 2-3 week timetable was more or a reference to when Morrow would return to practice, rather than when he would return to the lineup.

“We’ll just see where we are when we come back from this trip,’’ Johnson said of Morrow.

“We really want to make sure that hamstring is healed before we practice him. And then when we practice him, he’s not going to practice the whole practice. Because if we have a setback with this hamstring, he may be done. And I don’t want that to happen.’’
