Nets including Devin Harris again in Carmelo Anthony proposals, may affect Blazers talks: source
The Nets have again included Devin Harris in proposals to land Anthony, according to an NBA source. The point guard's inclusion, coupled with what reportedly is an eight-player proposal, throws a wrench in other discussions.
The most intriguing is a deal that would send Harris to Portland for veteran point guard Andre Miller, among other players. The Blazers and Nets have been negotiating for months, and were once trying to put to together a three-team deal with Denver.
Although the Blazers' involvement in a deal for Anthony is unlikely unless they are willing to ship Nicolas Batum to the Nuggets, they have been exploring other ways to swap point guards. It is believed that at least part of the motivation for the Nets to make this deal is to free up cap space to attract Chris Paul as a free agent after next season.
Harris, 27, is signed through 2013-14. Miller, 34, has a team option for the 2011-12 season, as does Denver's 34-year-old point guard Chauncey Billups, whom the Nets would likely have to take back in a deal for Anthony.
The Blazers covet Harris, who admitted Wednesday that he is not sure whether he will be with the Nets after Thursday's trade deadline.
"I've been traded during the All-Star break before," Harris said following a 94-80 loss to the Celtics Wednesday night. "Anything can happen."
