Not down on Davis
Glen Davis, as an impending unrestricted free agent, picked a bad time to have a bad playoff experience. But Ainge has no intention of giving Davis’ rocky close to the 2010-11 season a grade weighted by his playoff performance.
“Glen has earned the right to be an unrestricted free agent,” said Ainge. “We like Glen. We don’t look at this last month, where I don’t think he played as well as he’s capable of playing. He’d be the first to admit that.
“But we have to look at the whole package of what Glen has given to us as a player, and all of the good games he’s played, and all of the shots he’s made and plays he’s made,” Ainge said. “There’s a lot of mistakes made. The players that play well in the playoffs and the players that play poorly in playoff series — a lot of teams make mistakes based on that. So we’ll take his whole career with us into consideration, as we determine if the price he demands is fair. He will definitely look at the market. We know that.”
