Orlando Magic players support Chris Duhon's high-school alma mater
Fans who attended Tuesday night's game between Salmen High School and Brother Martin High School in Slidell, La., received quite a surprise.
Seven Orlando Magic players attended the game.
Chris Duhon is a Salmen graduate, and he brought teammates Brandon Bass, Earl Clark, Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson, Jason Richardson and Quentin Richardson to the game, which Salmen won 64-58.
"I'm just thankful that they came," Duhon said before the Magic tipped-off their game Wednesday night against the New Orleans Hornets at New Orleans Arena. "It's not every day that you see Dwight Howard walk into a high-school gym and Jameer Nelson and those types of guys."
uhon still has strong ties to the New Orleans area. His foundation has raised about $650,000 to help with Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts.
Duhon has played in New Orleans before during his NBA career, of course, but Wednesday night's game still gave him a thrill. He was still trying to acquire some tickets about two hours before tipoff.
"I get a chance to see family and friends that don't have an opportunity to see me play live instead of on TV," Duhon said. "It's always good to get a home-cooked meal and just catch up with everybody."
