Pistons forward DaJuan Summers might be on the move

All of the talk surrounding the Pistons has revolved around Richard Hamilton, and rightly so, but there's another Piston caught in the crosshairs.

Don't forget about DaJuan Summers, who's been mentioned as the likely candidate to join Hamilton in New Jersey — if the trade for Troy Murphy and Johan Petro comes to fruition.

"I'm just trying to be ready and prepared," Summers said Monday of his shaky status, before the Pistons' 103-89 win over Dallas. "I'm trying to get my mind wrapped around it actually happening, even if it doesn't."

Unlike Hamilton, Summers doesn't have an extensive NBA resume or reputation. Summers also doesn't as much financial security, like the $25.2 million guaranteed Hamilton is expected to get over the next few years.

Summers, 22, makes $762,195 this season and will be a restricted free agent this summer. He'll try to figure out the future while 2011-12 season remains threatened with a potential work stoppage.

"It's basketball, so whatever the system may be or the other players, just compete," Summers said of his approach. "Those things usually take care of itself."

Summers is trying to find his footing in what's often a cruel business.
