Pistons forward Jonas Jerebko not looking overseas

It's no secret that NBA players are considering overseas jobs if the lockout threatens next season.

Players talked openly about the prospect of earning a living in Europe if the NBA closed its doors.

It's not clear if that's an option for a player under contract.

Former Piston DaJuan Summers, made an unrestricted free agent when the Pistons declined to extend a qualifying offer last week, decided to sign a two-year deal over the weekend with an Italian club.

Is that a possibility for promising Pistons forward Jonas Jerebko?

Doug Neustadt, who represents Jerebko, said this week that an overseas assignment was not being considered.

"Jonas views himself as an NBA player," Neustadt said. "We are not looking to go over there.

"If something comes up we will look at it, but we are not actively looking. We are not going over there just to go over."

The Pistons extended Jerebko a qualifying offer of around $1 million, commiserate of a second-round pick that Jerebko was in the 2010 draft. The move makes him a restricted free agent when league business resumes.

Any team could make Jerebko an offer, but the Pistons would have first-refusal rights. Jerebko, who made the all-rookie second team in 2010, is in line for a multiyear contact paying at least $3 million to $4 million a season. It could be more, but he missed last season with a partially torn Achilles. He is fully recovered.
