Pistons' Jonas Jerebko has torn right Achilles' tendon, likely to be out at least two to three months

Last season, the Detroit Pistons lost a starter to injury during the season opener. The injury bug bit even sooner this year.

Second-year forward Jonas Jerebko suffered a torn right Achilles' tendon Tuesday night, according to a source.

Jerebko suffered the injury in the first quarter of the Pistons' 105-89 loss to the Heat. He averaged 9.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in 80 games – 73 starts – as a rookie and was the second-leading rebounder for the Pistons last season behind Ben Wallace.

Vinnie Goodwill of the Detroit News first reported the news of the torn Achilles' tendon on Twitter. Matt Dery of WXYT cited sources that say Jerebko will be out a minimum of two or three months. Have yet to confirm that, but more details will likely to be released some time today. Depending on the severity of the tear, two or three months seems somewhat optimistic.
