Rasheed Wallace in Orlando?
Fri, 12/31/2010 - 5:21pm
Magic GM Otis Smith acknowledged to the Sentinel that Rasheed Wallace’s name has been brought up by some coaches and Dwight Howard’s dad to fill that vacant big-man slot.
Howard Sr. even mentioned that Wallace might be just what the Magic need — a tough, salty veteran with title rings.
Of course, Wallace, 36, retired as a Boston Celtic last season after 15 NBA seasons.
He’d certainly help solve Orlando’s need for a back-up for Howard’s son. And he would even take the heat off Dwight with the officials (I mean, refs wouldn’t even notice Dwight with Rasheed on the floor, yakking.)
But Smith squashed any possibility of trying to give Rasheed Rashard’s old locker.
“He’s retired, isn’t he?” Smith said.
