Reggie Evans preaches frugality with eye on possible NBA lockout
Fri, 04/15/2011 - 12:44am
For much of the past season, though, Raptors forward Reggie Evans has made it part of his mission to convince his teammates they can’t. With the prospect of a lockout looming, with dire whispers of a hoop-less winter circulating around the league, Evans, the 30-year-old veteran, has been preaching frugality to young teammates who will listen. He has also been preaching to many who won’t.
“My teammates will tell you, I stay on their heads about their money. They want to go buy a car and I’m like, ‘For what?’ You don’t know what’s going to happen this summer,” Evans said. “Stack that money. Save that money. You never know. Could be a lockout. Don’t be sweating no bullets when those bills come.”
