Rose right at home with ‘good guy’ Pargo back

Bulls guard Derrick Rose welcomed the return of former Robeson star Jannero Pargo as injury insurance.

‘‘He’s from my same area,’’ said Rose, who starred at Simeon. ‘‘I remember seeing him play in college and in the NBA. That’s one of the players I look up to. He made it. That’s something I was trying to do.’’

Pargo, 31, has appeared in 19 games with the Bulls in three previous tours and has played in 64 NBA games since debuting with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2002-03.

‘‘I’m happy he’s back on the team,’’ Rose said. ‘‘He’s a good guy, and he has a good spirit. It’s good for us.’’

Pargo is equally excited about the season Rose is having as a second-time All-Star and strong MVP candidate.

‘‘He’s a Chicago guy,’’ Pargo said. ‘‘We’re all like a family, the guys that played in the NBA that are from Chicago. We always keep up with each other. I’m definitely happy for the year he’s having. It’s incredible.’’
