Scalabrine likes to contribute to Bulls' show
When Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau inserted Scalabrine into the game with 1 minute, 3 seconds to play, the move was met with robust approval.
It got better from there. With 33 seconds left, Scalabrine fired a 19-foot fade-away jumper that banked off the glass for a sweet deuce.
That gave the nine-year pro his 17th and 18th points of the season.
Scalabrine said he has mixed feelings about hearing fans call for him at the end of games.
"I don't like it," he said, "but I embrace it. I don't love the individualism in basketball. I think it takes away … for instance, when I go into the game and a guy like Lu (Luol Deng) comes out, they cheer for me. But what about what Lu just did? His effort out there is really causing us to win games.
"On the other hand, it is entertainment. And if they want to be entertained, then let them be entertained."
