Team claims veteran Travis Outlaw off waivers

Outlaw signed a five-year contract worth $35 million with the New Jersey Nets last season. The Kings did not disclose how much they bid for Outlaw, though a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed reports the bid was $3 million a season.
Outlaw had been rumored to be a possibility to be waived under the amnesty clause. The Nets did so Friday, the last day players could be waived under the clause.
"It got a little nerve-racking," said Outlaw's agent, Bill Duffy. "But he's familiar with the West, having played for Portland."
