Trail Blazers center Jeff Pendergraph says his ACL is torn and he will be lost for the season

Trail Blazers center Jeff Pendergraph has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will be out for the season, the second-year player said on his Twitter account  today.

After Thursday’s game, coach Nate McMillan said he and general manager Rich Cho were beginning to form a list of potential big men for the team to sign. However, Cho said he envisioned signing a player to a temporary contract - unless Pendergraph’s injury was season-ending.

Now that the injury has been deemed season-ending, it is unclear where Cho will turn. He did not return two messages on Friday afternoon. If he does sign a center for the season, he will have to release one of his 15 players under contract, possibly jeopardizing Pendergraph’s immediate future with the team.
