Utah Jazz: Kyrylo Fesenko and Rockets trying to work things out

As far as money goes, Kyrylo Fesenko and the Houston Rockets are on the same page.

However, there are currently other "hangups" preventing a deal from being made between the restricted free agent and the interested NBA team, a source told the Deseret News.

The two sides have until tonight to come to an agreement on the contract structure issues or Fesenko will commit to sign the qualifying on offer the Jazz tendered him this summer. The center and his agent "postponed the self-imposed deadline (of Saturday) to see if they can't get things worked," the source added.

Fesenko hopes to have his situation resolved in time to attend training camp this week.

Though intrigued by Houston, which is also pursuing center Erick Dampier, "Fesenko definitely wants to play in Utah," the source said. With Mehmet Okur being out for an undetermined amount of time while rehabbing from Achilles tendon surgery, Fesenko would hope to pick up extra minutes of playing time with the Jazz.

If Fesenko signs an offer sheet from the Rockets — one that would be worth in the range of $4 million over two years — the Jazz would have seven days to match.
