Vince Carter's Departure from Phoenix could be delayed

Speaking of that move, there was the necessary side to it as well with taking on Vince Carter's contract. It stipulated that he was only guaranteed $4 million of his contract's 2011-12 salary of $18 million if he was waived by the end of this month. It seemed like a foregone conclusion that Phoenix would do that and it still likely will occur but the delay could mean that an alternative deadline is in the works to avoid cutting a $4 million check this month. There are no indications that his contract will be part of a draft-day trade.
