Wright wants to express himself for Golden State

The Warriors want Dorell Wright to be Bruce Bowen.

Dorell Wright wants the Warriors to let him be Dorell Wright.

"Bruce Bowen is a great player to be compared to, but I bring a little more than just defense and spot-up shooting," said Wright, who signed a three-year deal worth just less than $12 million in July. "That's all I've been in the past, but I think the Warriors see a lot of other stuff in me.

"I had to play a role in Miami to be successful, and I'm willing to do that here, but I think they're going to let me express my game a little more."
"It's time to show the world what I can do," Wright said. "Man, am I ready. I've been waiting for an opportunity for a long time.

"I understood that Miami wasn't going to let me do that, so I tried to perfect the role they wanted. I think I'm going to have a little more freedom here, so I'm working to make sure I do that role perfectly."

With a 6-foot-9 frame that seems longer when his hands and feet go to work on defense, along with an athleticism that tested so well that he was Pat Riley's first and only draft pick out of high school, Wright has proven he can defend the league's best perimeter players.
